The SAGE Group (Strategies for Achieving Greater Expectations)
is a consulting service formed by AAC&U to assist campuses
wishing to implement changes recommended in the report, Greater
Expectations: A New Vision for Learning as a Nation Goes to
College. The Group consists of experienced senior
administrators and educators who collectively offer a wide
range of expertise. Members provide individual and group consultation
to institutions working on comprehensive educational reform.
As a blueprint for self-improvement that can be adapted to
a variety of institutional missions and types, the Greater
Expectations report serves to guide The SAGE Group's
work. The report challenges colleges and universities to ensure
powerful learning for all students in order to prepare them
to participate fully in a twenty-first century, knowledge-based
society.
The SAGE Group works with institutions to reallocate resources
and realign practices toward more intentional undergraduate
education. Institutional work with consultants can involve,
for example, mission review, strategic planning, collective
articulation of learning outcomes, curricular and general
education reform, shared governance, assessment, diversity
enhancement, faculty development, or internationalization.
The SAGE Group is affiliated with Greater
Expectations, AAC&U's multi-year initiative to articulate
the aims of a twenty-first century liberal education and identify
comprehensive, innovative models that improve learning for
all undergraduate students.
The SAGE Group is an initiative within AAC&U's Office of
Education and Quality Initiatives. For more information, please call Gretchen Sauvey at 202-884-7413 or sauvey@aacu.org.
