Campus-Based Curriculum Development
During the 2007-2008 academic year, AAC&U awarded subgrants to each of the participating institutions to help support the further development of general education science courses with significant global learning outcomes. The team leaders at each institution designed the activities and strategies to be pursued by their campus.

2007 Faculty and Curriculum Development Summer Institute

Teams from Shared Futures’ network of sixteen institutions participated in the 2007 Summer Institute, which was held at Sonoma State University. The Institute placed emphasis on global learning and science, including such issues as global warming and pandemics, as well as how to integrate global learning into introductory science courses. In addition, several sessions and individual campus consultations focused on assessment issues. The Institute was designed for participants to learn from one another in small reading seminars, plenary sessions, film discussions, workshops on pedagogy and curricular design, and concurrent sessions designed and led by team members.

2006 Faculty and Curriculum Development Summer Institute

The 2006 Shared Futures Curriculum and Faculty Development Institute was designed to provide multiple opportunities for participants to share lessons about course designs, classroom practices, and structural issues that arise when fusing general education and global learning goals. These opportunities included seminars, institutional sharing, and plenary sessions.
