The University of Mississippi is launching in Summer 2013 an online Professional M.A. in Higher Education, designed for those already employed at a college or university and who seek to advance their career in higher education. This 42-credit degree program is a designed for completion in just over two years, and provides the same low tuition rate for all students regardless of state of residency. American Public University System has announced the appointment of Conrad Lotze, Ph.D., as dean of the School of Education, a new role in which he will oversee the school’s education programs, faculty and accreditation. Dr. Lotze, who brings 25 years of experience of teaching and curriculum development, joins APUS from the Teachers College of Western Governors University, where he served as senior product development manager, mathematics program coordinator and a mentor.

Wofford College received the 2012 Association for General and Liberal Studies (AGLS) Exemplary Program Award for Improving General Education—Effective Assessment Processes. The award singles out Wofford's biology department for its creative approach to assessing scientific learning. In particular, the judges praised "the department’s use of multiple means of assessment that validate student learning, and they appreciated the quality and value of the poster project, the deep analysis of the results, and the honest reporting of the mixed feelings of the students."
Oregon State University: Thinking about graduate school? Oregon State University offers a 1 credit online course, "Graduate School Preparation" (IST499). This course is designed to help guide students through the application process including: writing a personal statement, completing a CV, identifying pitfalls and outcomes in choosing an advisor, and discussing sources of funding. Topics for discussion include developing a professional presence and problems associated with internet social media, and how much debt to incur (or not) for graduate/professional school
