Dr. Gail G. Evans is Professor Emerita of Kinesiology at San José State University. She was the Dean of Undergraduate Studies at San Francisco State University from 2008-2013. During her tenure at SF State, Dr. Evans led a revision of the baccalaureate degree requirements, including a new General Education program. She was also instrumental in developing baccalaureate learning outcomes for the campus. Dr. Evans served as the administrative representative to the CSU General Education and Advisory Committee of the Statewide Academic Senate for five years. Prior to coming to SF State, she was the Director of General Education and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at San José State University. During that time she oversaw two campus-wide GE revisions. She has been a member of two WASC accreditation teams, one as associate chair. Dr. Evans is extremely interested in curricular reform, particularly with respect to general education and the incorporation of high impact practices.
Dr. Evans served on the faculty of the AAC&U Greater Expectations summer institute for five years, and served on the faculty of the General Education and Assessment summer institute for a number of years. She is a frequent speaker at national meetings as well as a campus consultant for facilitating GE reform. Her academic discipline is kinesiology with a specialization in Biomechanics.
