Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL) — Advancing what works in STEM education

September 2012
Newsletter Archives

Dear Colleagues:

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Dr. Kelly Mack to AAC&U as she begins her tenure as Executive Director of Project Kaleidoscope this week. Kelly brings to this position an impressive range of leadership skills as well as a true passion for helping STEM students and faculty members excel. She has an enthusiasm for the continued mission of Project Kaleidoscope to be one of the leading advocates for building and sustaining strong undergraduate programs in STEM. We hope you will join us and the entire PKAL/AAC&U community of faculty and institutions in offering her our full support as we continue to shape undergraduate STEM learning.

We also take this opportunity to express our gratitude to outgoing PKAL Executive Director Susan Elrod, whose leadership set the path to fully integrate the work of PKAL and its many networks of science faculty and academic leaders into the heart of AAC&U’s agenda for undergraduate liberal learning. She has been instrumental in developing new initiatives to advance PKAL’s strategic goals of graduating more highly qualified and liberally educated STEM professionals as well as promoting a higher level of scientific literacy and reasoning among all college graduates.

All members of the PKAL and AAC&U communities are invited to officially mark this important transition at the upcoming Next Generation STEM Learningconference, November 8-10 in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as at PKAL’s post-conference workshop, Leadership for Change in STEM Education. At this important conference you will have the opportunity to welcome Kelly Mack and toast Susan Elrod. We hope you will join us as we enjoy fellowship with other STEM education leaders and celebrate the bright future of Project Kaleidoscope.

Sincerely,

Alison Morrison-Shetlar
Chair, Project Kaleidoscope Advisory Board
