Science and Health
AAC&U works to advance broad-based systemic innovation to build and sustain strong undergraduate education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. AAC&U does this work through several campus-based initiatives and partnerships, including its current work on global learning and public health (see below). AAC&U recently announced a new partnership with Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL), an ongoing project currently led by Jeanne Narum and launched in 1992. PKAL works with faculty and campus leaders to build learning environments that attract and sustain undergraduate students to the study of STEM fields and motivate them to consider careers in related fields. AAC&U also works in partnership with several other organizations on teaching undergraduates about public health issues, connecting science education to issues of civic engagement, and ensuring that undergraduate educational programs attend to students’ well-being, including their mental and physical health. |
