Women
in Higher Education
For four decades, AAC&U has provided national leadership on
issues relevant to women in higher education through its Program
on the Status and Education of Women (PSEW).
PSEW, which celebrated its fortieth anniversary in 2011 under the banner Beyond Limits, conducts projects and sponsors publications on such priorities as curriculum
and campus climate, women's leadership, and new research on
women and gender.
PSEW is also the home of On Campus with Women,
the longest uninterrupted national newsletter about women in higher education sponsored by a higher education association.
Among its other publications, PSEW has published a series of papers on women
of
color in postsecondary education and has directed a National Science
Foundation-supported initiative on Women
and Scientific Literacy that led to Gender, Science, and the Undergraduate Curriculum. For the past seven years, PSEW has served as the coordinating
office of Campus Women
Lead, a multicultural grassroots network of women
who offer workshops designed to mobilize women’s leadership to promote inclusive institutions through women’s multicultural alliances.
