Prospective students and parents, tax-payers, state legislators and employers are all asking much tougher questions about the “return on investment” for higher education. For some, it is a dollars and sense equation: is my degree worth it in the form of increased earnings? For others – as the Gallup-Purdue Index has shown – it is about the quality of the experience across various high-impact practices including caring and mentoring faculty and staff? How can higher education clearly define and articulate its value proposition? And what are the implementation strategies for ensuring higher education fully delivers on that value proposition for every student?
